UCL VPN: Sophos update virus definition

For Mac users who need to use VPN provided by UCL and find the ‘AntiVirus definitions not updated in the last month’ error.

(A trivial but useful post I hope. However, if you need help with the whole process, click here.)

A trivial point to mention: If the error, ‘AntiVirus definitions not updated in the last month’, occurred, Sophos probably need an update. To update the definition:

  1. go to swdb.ucl.ac.uk and search for Sophos, click and redirect;
  2. go through the UCL single sign-on;
  3. find the username and password in the Download section;
  4. open the Sophos app and go to preference:
    • Sophos –> Preference –> AutoUpdate –> Primary Location
  5. find the little icon at the menu bar of your Mac desktop, click and find ‘update’.

Try again after the update and you should be able to use the VPN connection.
